The Obama Birth Certificate Question Turns Into Lawsuit

The Audacity of HopeImage via WikipediaWith all of political buzz that has appeared as of late, it is easy to get caught up in all of the drama. On almost any television channel or newspaper pages, we can find information about the latest political debates and political promises that are being made by the candidates. For the last few months one of the most popular stories has been the ongoing lawsuit that Presidential hopeful Obama is faced with. The lawsuit was filed by Philip J. Berg, a Philadelphia Attorney who alleges that Presidential Candidate, Barack Obama is not a legal citizen of the United States. It further alleges that he is not eligible to hold the office of President of The United States because of this fact. Obama has been ordered to produce his birth certificate.

While news about this lawsuit seemed to lay dormant for a few weeks, new developments in the case have recently put it back into the spotlight. It seems that Mr Berg has decided to included more defendants in his lawsuit. If approved by the courts, Mr. Berg is hoping to add Pedro A. Cortes, Secretary of the Commonwealth, Senator Diane Feinstein, The United States Senate Committee on Rules and Administration and the Pennsylvania Department of State to the Berg v. Obama lawsuit. These additional defendants are intended to be included because the plaintiff contends that they failed to perform due diligence when allowing Barack Obama to be included as a Presidential candidate.

Mr. Berg currently maintains a website dedicated to alleged crimes of Senator Obama. Content on the website states that the additional defendants are being sought in order to clarify the issues at hand. While the Obama camp continues to strongly contend that Senator Obama is indeed a natural born citizen of the United States, Mr. Berg is continuing to press forward with his lawsuit.

The next few weeks of the campaign and of the lawsuit will most assuredly bring about a host of interesting information and events. No matter which side of the political trail you find yourself on, the upcoming weeks will bring about a most historical campaign. It also show just how important a birth certificate can be.
